Do You Know The Significance of Prodrome Sciences for Our Health?
The ultimate goal of Prodrome sciences is to give people a blood test, identify which diseases they are at risk for, which biochemical systems are causing it, and then provide a mechanism for them to correct it. Experts wait until the result is revealed in our existing healthcare system, even when the disease is easily diagnosed. We're trying to warn people ahead of time.
So far, what prodromes have Dr. Dayan discovered?
We recently announced the commercialization of our
Prodrome-CRC and Prodrome-PAC colon and pancreatic cancer programs,
respectively. Later this year, ovarian cancer and Alzheimer's programs will be
launched. However, we are working on many more, including autism, multiple
sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, lung cancer, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia,
etc.
What is the commercialization strategy entail?
It's the polar opposite of companion diagnostics. We have
companion therapeutics, and some preventative medicine therapeutics are very
inexpensive. That sounds good in public health, but it's difficult in terms of
business.
In terms of diagnostic techniques, you could almost give the
testing away for free because people would eventually pay for the drug. We can,
however, do the opposite. Depending on the preventative measure, we can get
paid for the testing and almost give the drug away for free.
For example, our healthcare system does not currently screen
pancreatic cancer efficiently because the disease is uncommon, but our blood
test changes that by making it simple to be tested. As a result, that type of
diagnostic can enter the bloodstream without a therapeutic companion.
How is it different from Alzheimer's?
Alzheimer's is a little different. When we started working
on the Alzheimer's program, doctors told us that having a diagnostic test for
something you couldn't help treat was pointless. However, non-pharmacological
prevention and treatment strategies have significantly improved Alzheimer's
care over the last decade. People are now saying that our test would be
extremely useful in the marketplace.
Clinical trials:
Yes, the most important aspect of Prodrome is that we apply
a professional pharma and diagnostic industry mindset to preventative medicine,
which has traditionally been the second cousin in the medical community.
Supplement and related industries are big businesses that haven't been
developed with the scientific zeal that traditional pharmaceutical markets
have.
That is where we differ. We use large-scale clinical trials
to determine and scientifically prove which of these precautionary medicines
and strategies provide significant clinical benefits.
Dr. Dayan Goodenowe shares his
knowledge through wonderful podcasts and videos. You may know about Alzheimer's
through his book. If you're interested in bioscience or medical things, you
should follow him for the knowledge of the Prodrome sciences.
